Pay equity is a fundamental human right. Despite some progress, women continue to be paid less than men for equivalent work. The federal Pay Equity Act is intended to address this issue.
With implementation beginning in the fall of 2021, the Act requires all federally regulated employers to partner with unions to implement pay equity plans within the next three years, with the goal of closing systemic pay discrimination gaps. PSAC encourages members to get involved in advancing equity for all!
